Brand identity for a growing artisan business
Emily Thwaites Upholstery
Project
To create a new brand identity for Emily Thwaites Upholstery, an artisan business based in Cartmel, Cumbria, that breathes new life into vintage and mid century furniture.
Emily's target audience loves their existing furniture, but requires specialist upholstery for its restoration or modernisation. Emily also helps people that love interior design to find and tailor bespoke pieces.
A secondary audience for Emily are businesses that require craftsmanship services.
Objective
It was important to convey the hands-on nature of Emily's service, incorporating traditional craft values with a modern sensibility.
Emily offers a bespoke service, and use of vintage scissors in the logo help convey this (the featured scissors are a hand-drawn representation of an actual pair of vintage upholstery scissors that Emily had lovingly restored).
